Rambles: Stop dancing around and fight (40K light hearted ramble).

(If you didn't get it then I must tell you this is not serious).
Why, of why do we run around skipping and singing in our RHINOS that are meant to charge. You may as well call them Gypsy vans for all the rhino charging they do. Wave serpents and falcons are not much better. The falcon is a deadly predator but it must be pregnant and lazy for all the killing it does.
With the advent of 5th ed and full mechanisation in a lot of armies we have seen a lot less killing with men. Yes you still shoot with your lascannons and auto cannon teams but the majority of your force scoots about for the duration of the game then makes one little assault or grabs one objective. COME ON, take a leaf out of the khorne berzerkers book and CHARGE!!!
I mean I know it's a valid tactic if you want to win a tourney or something but in pick up games you need action to have fun. Come on people. Add 10 man assault marine units and some assault termies then back it up with deverstators. Overwhelm you opponents with the rapid fire of 30-40 marines.
Go with the fluff. If you go with the fluff that says you can sit back and fire then take objectives at the last moment then damn you, I hope you go to hell, have fun and CHAAAARRRRRGGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea that felt good. Come on. I know you want to win some times but agree with opponent to have a fighty game and attack them.
Because I think that there is A) not enough variety in our missions and B) a lack of scenarios at the moment. I am going to come up with some scenarios and additional missions so we can have some more variety. So, go from this:

Thanks for reading everyone, please tell us what you think. Remember this was light hearted banter and I did not mean to offend anyone. Thanks for reading,
Jacob.

Reviews: Gamers World 1 year review.
1) learned how to take propper pics of minis.
2) Got better at painting (ie. Learned how to highlight etc)
3) Have got cleaner at painting
and thats just the painting things I have had great year and this blog has really helped me. I mean I have had my ups and downs and I have had my breaks from blogging but all in all I have really enjoyed doing this.
I wopuld still like to improve on some things like giving out more tutorials etc but really, I can do that.
Now normaly people say what is to come in the next year but frankly I really don't know for me, I mean I may start a new army i may do some different things with this blog but that all depends on this blog. Not to long ago I would not know what I was going to blog about before I sat down at my computer, now I plan posts and create them before I post them but still I might sit down on a Saturday and think something up to blog about.
Overall I have loved doing this and will continue over the following year hopefully growing bigger and better.
If you have enjoyed this year with me then please let me know and I f you have anything to say on improving this blog then now is your chance, I won't get offended because if somethings wrong I would like to fix it.
P.S. Please enter the contest for naming my rhinos, the link is above in the whats new box and if you would like to then join the Common Posters (commenters) Blogger Group linked to on the side bar.
Thanks for reading and good night.

Ideas: A new group that will be called the Common Posters Blogger Group
Because I wasn't getting any comments I increased how often I post to daily. Now I really enjoy doing this but it would be nice to see a comment or two on each post but in the last ten posts or so I have only got 3 or three comments (excluding my own). So, in my discussions there has been no discussion etc. Now the thing is how ever many posts I read on commenting it is still hard to comment because I don't feel all that compelled to comment. I mean Ron must get thousands of visits but he might only get 10 comments or maybe even 5 on each post. I am a much smaller blog so my comment/post ratio is comparatively smaller. So I propose we make a small group. Nothing special, we don't even need a logo all that is required is that you post up the following section of text in a text box somewhere on your blog:
I am a member of the Common Posters Blogger Group and will try my hardest to comment on at least 1 in every 5 posts I read.
There simple as that. You post that up somewhere on your blog and try to carry out what it says. try and comment on at least 1 in 5 posts that you read.
If you like the idea or are joining then feel free to comment on this post with your blog details so I can add your blog to my blogroll and know that some people have joined.

Rambles: Broken units, are there really any?
The thing that makes a unit broken or game braking is the fact that it can defeat or help your army defeat the enemy more easily, too easily it seems sometimes, but, once you have seen a broken unit a few times then is it still broken to you?
For example, if I fight nob bikers with all of the cheese on them every week for 5 weeks 0nce a week, I will guarantee I will know how to kill it easily by the 5th weak. Another example that I can relate to is doom/guide/fortune farseers on foot. One of them was a with big unit of dire avengers, he fortuned them to keep them alive then guided/doomed my units to death. I don't think that this is a broken unit but I take it as a challenge. The way I dealt with it was to tie the unit up in combat with a tar pit then do waht I wanted before piling in and killing the unit, you may say that was a waste of units but you have to remember I am saving my self points that they would have killed aswell as using my points against theirs.
The point is that if I hear that nob bikers are brilliant and want to play them but then don't want to be an ass then I can't play them. Now, if people took nob bikers in my army as a challenge for them to try and beat it lets me use what I want and it keeps thing fresh as people have to find new challenges.
So next time you see someone contemplating taking a supposedly broken unit then tell them that you will play them and take it as a challenge!
If anybody has any other questions or comments or anything to add onto tis post then please comment away!

Rambles/tactics: 5th ed suvival, how to stay in the game with different army styles.
GUNLINE!: Gunlines are very hard to play in 5th but they are still possible with a little practice, first you need things like devs, prefferably things that can infiltrate, you need to set these up in fire arcs and in cover, keep these with long range weapons. Your troops need to get ready for a assault and get into cover and make small, unavoidable fire zones if possible.
Elites should be there to blast up the enemy then hold them up when they assault so the troops can overwhelm them.
Fast attack units need to be hidden but ready to attack on the first call. If you play marines then try a land speeder or 2, drop these in behing the enemy and stay out the way and blast their fast assault troops (many fasy vercles have atleast 36'' range guns). Generally you are going to have to kill the enemies fast stuff quickly. In a gunline army prioritising targets in essential.
Competive score: 5 (out of 10) these armies are not to competitive at the moment but can be fun and some players can make these armies work.
FAST BOYS: These are armies like saim-hann (Fritz your really good at this style) or biker and land speeder Dark Angel armies. For these armies to work then they need to stick to cover, generally they can be killed quite quickly if exposed so they need to take out the enemies biggest threats before making objective grabs on turn 5. These armies need more than 1 wave otherwise if the game doesn't end on turn 5 then your dead but if you have a second wave then you try again on turn 6/7.
Deepstriking and target denial is good idea for these armies. If your opponent doesn't know when your going to appear or where then you gain an advantage plus you have less turns to get killed in before your objective grabbing sessions. Target denial also helps keep you alive. If the mission in anilation then these armies need to concertrate their fire power then get away before retaliation.
Competitive score: 4-9 (out of 10) These armies need a good general that knows his army and is awsome in the right hands (like Fritz's hands).
BALLANCED: Generally you find armies that have a mix of fast units (used like in the GUNLINE or in the FASTBOYS), power units (which get into position and blast the minds out of stuff, slow units and deepstrikers. All of these units are used differently in each codex so I can't help specifically here.
Competitive score: VARIABLE: these armies vary from codex to codes.
DEEPSTRIKERS: The boys that can come in wherever but are relatively slow (the fast deepstrikers are in FAST BOYS) these are things like termies and I know this is not deepstriking but things with infiltrate or scout. With these units you need to destroy your opponents biggest threats then crowd on about 1/3 of objectives and contest another 1/3 to guarantee a win, if you have to kill your opponent then kill things that give you easy KPs.
Competitive score: 4-7.5(out of 10) These armies are hard to play but when you get the hang of them they can be fun/effective.
TRANSPORT/MECHANISED: These armies are fully mech and have to rush troops forward into good positions, the hard hitters of these armies need to attack the enemies big threats and troop choices in objectives, other places have covered the uses or rhino/razorback walls so I won't, but they are awsome here, with these armies you need to get to places quick then HOLD THE LINE! Biker armies can be used like this too but need some more thinking.
Competitive score: 5-8.5(out of 10) These armies are simmaler to FAST BOYS but are more forgiving and slightly less effective.
Sorry if I have missed army types or have got things wrong, correct me if I have made a mistake CC is welcome. Some of the competive score are dependant on experience and style of play.

Rambles: My number 1 hobby tip is................
If I always try to do golden daemon standard on my captains then I will end up taking forever over a model and not getting the result I want but if I try to do a little better/different than my last model then I will slowly get better and get a result I am happy with. Shure it's fine to say that on one model you will take 80 hours but that is one model, not your whole HQ section.
So next time you paint your cappy or whatever try out that new basing tecnique or that wash effect. If you want to paint to your best then spend time over something, a quick job probbably won't be a quality job that your happy with but if you spend that extra bit of time then you can achive something you are happy with then next time you can go one step further down the road to a perfect paint job, nobody ever reaches the end of that road but the further along it you get the happier you are.
What I am really trying to say is that you should try and achive what you can reasonably do!

Rambles: the first (Those gamers that cant play but wont accept tat you can).
The other day I ran into one such gamer, he was running Necrons and fighting my marines, I ended up having to leave the game half way through but thats not the point. I know pretty much all my stats for all my marines, many of the eldar stats, some of the necron stats, many of the guard stats and a few other scattered stats. He didn't know the strength of a gauss blaster or even a gauss flayer, I did but he insisted on going into his codex, then he didn't know where the summary page in his codex was.
Throughout the game he must have spent 45 mins doing his army list and looking in his codex, plus he kept touching my models while I wrote my army list making me take longer.
Overall I just don't like this trait in people, I don't mean to sound arrogant but it is just my views on this type of people (these are just the thing I dislike as well).
