So, the poll on battle reports is over and it seems that loads of people like them, here are the results:

YES, I love them. 16 (61%)

Ok, but can get to long, only short ones 8 (30%)
Don't really read them. takes to long. 2 (7%)
Rubbish, waste of space 0 (0%)

It looks like I will be preparing some battle reports in the near future.

FANTASY: I DIDN'T LOSE! (and why not giving up is important).

Sorry for not posting over the last few days I've been on holiday, but today when I got back I went to GW and played Craig with his Brets, so far except against Stu in practise games (and he was using non-optimal ogres against my WoC and my army was much easier to play than his).

The big thing is I don't mind losing because I learn more but today i fought hard and used my cav right, I also used 2 units of knights which helped. We didn't add it up but we thought it was probably a draw (we semi-worked it out) it might have been a small win to me though.

Now, the second part of this post is the importance of not giving up. I have not followed Ron's advice and do change my list regularly but now I have settled a bit more I will just be changing the odd character here and there and occasionally swapping the whole thing up.

So, remember, if you work hard you will eventually get the hang of any selection.

Thanks for reading,

Jacob.

Fantasy: 2000 pts WoC vs Empire (I got smashed) battle overview.

Hi, today I played a game at the GW and well, I got smashed.

I made a mistake with my screening fact cav and he got an ace shot with a warmachine which dropped some knights then the turn after he took my hero on jugger off. I also made a mistake because I forgot my jugger guy waas a hero and not a lord so used him wrong. The other problem was that in my army I had 1 unit ofknights and 1 unit of warriors then the rest was just cav making a really small list.

So, I bought 5 more knights so I canplay more ballanced and the marauders will be getting another look in, also maybe another small unit of 10 warriors.

I'm going to build those knights now, thanks for reading,

Jacob.

Battles: Fantasy, WOC Vs Empire and Bretonia 2500pts (quick report)

So, today I went to the GW and played a relatively large fantasy game. I was running a fairly odd list with a total of :

15 marauder cav
20 marauders
5 knights
36 warriors
1 lord on jugger (Khorne)
a lvl 2 on disk (tzeentch)
a lvl 2 on foot (nurgle)
a BSB on palanquin (nurgle)

And that was about it. In the end my knights and lord were tied up by battle pilgrims (30 of them) and my nurgle bunker got hit by a big block of bretonian knights and my marauders got hit by 20 empire knights then the rest was shot to bits. Finaly the two knight units broke my units and just mannaged to get into the lords unit on the last turn and kill them. I had great fun and loved using the jugger lord. I need to try and find a way to get my lords unit of knights in a position where they can avoid hold up units like the pilgrims. Oh well.

Jacob.

Battles: 6000 points side Fantasy battle and unit testing!

Hi, today I spend a lot of time in my local GW. I played 2000 points of chaos against 3200 pts of empire and 2800 pts of brets. Of course I also had the hellp of vampires and skaven both had 2000 pts.

I build a unit using my palanquin BSB and some warriors, I have played 3 games with it and in the first 2 it got charged but then I had to go. Today I got to play with it and I love it!!!

The game turned out to be a minor victory to us and it was a hard fought game that I really enjoyed. It has been the first game I have won exept for against Stu but that was when we were both learning and not playing with all the rules.

Now, as this week is about the whole aesthetic, I'll tell you how this links in! The whole thing is fact that it can be extremely fun to play in big mega battles if you have a good team to play with. The narrative links in
because in big battles the view is quite staggering and actually looks like a bit of a battle rarther than a scrap!

Battles: First battle with new fantasy army and a chaos/Ogre capaign!

Hi guys, today it was toys/games day at school so me and my mate Stu decided to throwdown in a battle to set off a campaign. This is the scenario we played and an outline of the campaign:

Scenario: We had three gothic ruin corners (the ones that come with the imperial guard battle force) set up in a square in one corner of a 4' by 4' table then some scenery and 3 rock piles scattered around, each rock pile was worth 100 victory points . Stu had to have more core choices within 3'' of the ruins at the end of the game than I did to get an extra 200 victory points and I had to kill his bruiser to to get my +200 of course we also played the noral rules for killing a unit to get victory points. This was a 1000 pts game and we played open lists.

The army lists were:

Ogres:

Bruiser with wallcrusher big name, a great weapon that gives +3 strength, a cathayan lonsword the all the gnoblars and extra gubbins he can take (+ a dispel scroll).

Iron guts (3): champion, standard bearer and dragonhide banner.

6 bulls: full command and iron fists a banner.

50 gnoblars: groin biter.

4 lead belchers: thunderfist (champ).

Chaos:

A kickass exalted champ with axe of khorne, Blood curdling roar and a few other random bits including mark of nurgle.
A Tzeench sorcerer with spell familiar, book of secrets and second level.

12 warriors with full command and slaanesh.
12 warriors with full command and nurgle.
5 knights with full command nurgle and lances.

Overall I had 154 points pore than him so he got plus that many VP

The game ended in a tachnical draw because I killed his bruiser and gnoblars and all but 2 bulls + his iron guts and he killed a bunch of warriors and the knights, so I had about 120 more VP's tha him but that counts as a draw. I am still happy though because he now has to roll to see what happens to his bruiser campaign wise.

The rules of the campaign are pretty simple. We have a series of games we will make up with storyline inbetween. In some games if a character is killed he does not die in the whole campaign but has to roll to see what happens:

1. Wounded: the character comes back fine next game.
2. maimed: the character lose 1 attack next game (to a minimum of 1).
3.gutted: the character loses 1 point of toughness next game.
4. maimed and wounded: the character is maimed and wounded.
5. almost dead: the character has only half his wounds for the remainder of the campaign or only 1 wound for the next 3 games (players choice).
6. Dead: the character is replaced with a champion (of any squad this champ counts as an independant character) for the next 2 games but takes up the slot the previous character slot and costs the same amount of points as the previous character. After those 2 turns a new leader has been chosen and the charcter can return to the campaign.

More will be added to the campaign at a later date.

LoTR: War of the ring starter game.

Hi guys, sorry for not posting recently but I do have an update now. Yesterday I went to GW and they had a LoTR table set up so I asked whether I could play on it. Turns out that they showed me how you play and man is it fun!

You have to get your men in the right positions otherwise the enemy will just trample over you. In the game I played I was minas tirith and he was orcs, I won a narrow victory but it was still a great game. With army I played it seemed like shooting was abouit rolling lots of dice and needing high numbers and combat was rolling less dice but needing higher numbers. That may change depending what army you play. There are advantages if you charge with a creature bigger that what you carge monsters being the highest the cav the infantry. I will definately be finding time for LoTR at some point.

Salamanders: Long awaited update.

Hi, sorry for not posting for a while, I have a propper update now

This dread is nearly done the arms just need finishing.

I gave the metal a green wash so it looked old and over used.

Now for the cappy, he still needs some work.
One side of the power weapon, it is supposed to look like it is hot at the tip as it was forged through lava, I could get into that but I'll just say it's like lord of the rings when they make the ring only with more fire.

Now for the marines, this first one is the missile launcher dude, most of them don't have weapons or back packs.

This guy you have seen before.
Now for the sergeant. His face wash highlighted brown then washed black.

Sorry for the slight blur in this one.

All the shadows in these pics were natural, I hope you enjoy them.

Battles: Against Eldar.

Gamers World here, Yesterday I played a supprise game against some Eldar, it was on a 2' by 4' board, we played Kill points and I won 5-3, he had about 15 gaurdians, a seer council a lone farseer, 5 pathfinders, 5 dire avengers, a warwalker and a wave serpent. I played with 5 sterns which drew a lot of fire, 30 tac marines, 5 devs and 5 termies.

I loved this game and I have found that the Sterns and cappy draw a lot of fire power and last for a good while, the devs drew a lot of fire aswell but they didn't do much.
